Simple Theatre was founded in 2002
We're looking for quality theatre folks to help us reboot.
OUR APPROACH
Simple Theatre uses Aristotle’s definition of theatre – mainly plot, character, thought, and diction – to produce new, thought-provoking works that challenge norms, push boundaries, and have personal & social value, whilst keeping all production aspects simple, collaborative, and unpretentious.
Aristotle broke it down pretty well
~2300 years ago, theatre's building blocks were laid out for us. Simple Theatre blithely abides by the basics.
The events that occur in the story.
The people or beings that are central to the story.
The motivations of each character in the story.
And to a lesser degree:
The form of communication each character employs.
SONG
Melody, tempo, flow. Also, actual music in and around the story.
SPECTACLE
The visual apparatus of the story. Set, costumes, props, etc.
